District 6 Director: Kelly Lee

Hello District 6 GSTA Members!
My name is Kelly Lee, Ed.S., and I am excited to serve as the District 6 Director for the Georgia Science Teachers Association. I teach 6th grade math and science at Atkinson County Middle School in Pearson, Georgia, where I also serve as Science Department Chair and STEM/Tech Team Leader. I am currently in my fifth year at ACMS and have taught students across multiple grade levels, from Pre-K through middle school.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Wesleyan College, my Master of Education in Middle Grades Science, and my Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Piedmont University. My continued education has strengthened my passion for combining science, technology, and effective instructional practices to create meaningful learning experiences for students.
In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I am actively involved in STEM education and teacher leadership. I coordinate STEM and technology opportunities for students, including competitions and hands-on learning experiences, and I enjoy finding creative ways to make science engaging, relevant, and accessible. I am especially passionate about supporting educators in rural schools and ensuring that South Georgia teachers and students have access to strong science and STEM opportunities.
My approach to science education is centered around curiosity, hands-on learning, problem solving, and giving students opportunities to experience science rather than simply read about it. I also enjoy integrating technology into instruction and exploring ways digital tools can increase student engagement and access to learning.
As your District 6 Director, one of my biggest goals is to strengthen the science education community across South Georgia. District 6 is home to incredible educators doing amazing things in their classrooms, and I want to help us connect with one another, share resources and ideas, celebrate our successes, and make sure our region has a strong voice within GSTA. Whether you are teaching science in an elementary classroom, middle or high school, STEM lab, or another educational setting, I want you to know that District 6 is a community where you can connect and belong.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son and staying involved in my community.
I am excited about what we can build together in District 6. Let’s connect, collaborate, and grow science in South Georgia!
